2 1/2 x 1/4 rnd R stl (06) 31,32,34,35,37,39-42,51:b,52,57
Also, make the corresponding change to the reverse listing, page 159. Cotton Belt is denoted "CB".
2 1/2 x 1/4 rnd R stl (47) 41,44,44:b,45,45:b
2 1/2 x 1/4 rnd R stl (12) 60
This 60 has the shank markings of the 58 and 59 (see page 41 of Volume III for illustrations). The 60 used by Pacific Gas & Electric has the shank style of 1960.
In the McCloud River section I wrote that in a 1977 letter, the chief engineer stated that nails were only used in 1959 and 1960. Now the President of the line says they were used also in 1960, and Don Piercy has found some. Thanks to Rolland Meyers and Don Piercy for this correction.
Make the appropriate change also in the Reverse Listing, page 181 of Volume III.
1 1/4 x 3/16 rnd I gm cop (60) 32
to the first line. The line now reads
1 1/4 x 3/16 rnd I gm cop (60) 26,27:b,28,29,32,34,41
2 1/2 x 1/4 rnd R stl (17) 36:b
This nail, not shown on page 43 of Volume III, has numbers identical to the 2" 36 on page 44. It is rare.
2 1/2 x 1/4 rnd R stl (18C) 56
The Santa Fe used the 56:b, not both 56 and 56:b. Also, eliminate the refernce to Santa Fe for the 56 in the reverse listing, Volume III, page 187.

page 294, under "Treating plants".
2 1/2 x 1/5 rnd R stl (04) 33
to the fifth line. The line should now read
2 1/2 x 1/5 rnd R stl (04) 31-33
The SP used (04) 33's both with and without gm. Also, make the appropriate addition to the reverse listing, page 152 of Volume III.
2 1/2 x 3/16 rnd R gm stl (18C) 40

2 1/2 x 3/16 rnd R gm stl (18C) 39,41,42,42:b
The 40 is a Colorado Highway Dept. nail which some people have put in their SP sets. Also, eliminate the reference to SP-W for this nail in the reverse listing, page 187 of Volume III.
Furthermore, the Maryland & Pennsylvania aluminum 47 and 48, and their copper 49, were made by Clendenin Bros. of Baltimore. These nails should have a different WESIS type. Currently they are
1 1/4 x 3/20 rnd I
alm (60) 47,48
1 1/4 x 3/20 rnd I
cop (60) 49
and are shown in Volume III on pages 67 and 66 respectively. In the future these may be designated as type (65) (but not until my next edition comes out!).
